Haldiram Bhujiawala Ltd (HBL) is the Kolkata arm of the Agarwal family associated with the Haldiram business. Like other Haldiram companies, HBL is a manufacturer and retailer of traditional Indian snacks and sweets.

The business was started by Ganga Bishan Agarwal in 1937 in Bikaner, Rajasthan. He left most of his business to a son Mool Chand, except one state – West Bengal. This was taken by another son Rameshwar Lal. HBL is the business developed by the Rameshwar Lal line of the family. In 2013, they lost a trademark case for the brand name ‘Haldiram Bhujiawala’ with the Delhi based Mool Chand line of the family. Since then, HBL seems to be using the brands like ‘Prabhuji’s – House of Haldiram’ and Haldiram’s Prabhuji. This name comes from Prabhu Shankar Agarwal, elder son of Rameshwar Lal. This branch of the family also got into legal trouble around a murder case, resulting in Prabhu Shankar facing a long jail sentence.

HBL was incorporated in 1993. It has 3 directors – Anoop Singhal, Rajesh Singhal and Narayan Agrawal. It has 5 directors: Prabhu Shanker Agarwal (managing director), Manish Agarwal, Manoj Agarwal, Koyel Dutta and Nitish Chandra Das.

For the year ended Mar’16, the company reported revenue of INR 2.95B (~USD 45m) and net profit of Rs 133m (USD 2m).
