Rajkot based Balaji Wafers is the third largest snack food company in India after Pepsi and Haldiram’s, just ahead of fast growing ITC.


The company’s stronghold is Gujarat, where it claims almost 90% market share amongst organised sector players. The company also claims around 65% market share in Western India, where it is present in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Rajasthan and some parts of Madhya Pradesh.


Balaji's turnover cross Rs 10b (Rs 1,000 crore) in FY14. The company is growing at 25-30%. With a net profit margin of more than 10%, the company is highly profitable.


Currently, the company has 2 plants: in Rajkot and Valsad, both in Gujarat. It has just announced plans to invest Rs 4b in a new facility at Indore, Madhya Pradesh, with which it wants to cater to Central and North India.
